The Find-A-Grave link above will take you to their website for Vickers Graveyard. It is fairly accurate and up to date. The cemetery is still active but burials are fairly rare. The last was in July of 2024. There are 28 graves in the cemetery with tombstones. All are engraved. There is plenty of room for additional graves within the fenced area. There may be other unmarked graves but there are no obvious signs.

The oldest grave is for Lindsey P. Vickers who was a pioneer/settler to the Mine Lick Creek area. He held a 640 acre track of land just east of the Joseph homestead. This is his family cemetery and our closest connection. Uncle Tinker (Henry Ervin Roberts), son of Joseph, married Lindsey's daughter, Sarah. Uncle Tinker and Sarah are also buried here.

Lindsey was in Company I, 5th Tennessee Cavalry like a lot of the Mine Lick Creek guys. He was killed on the ill-fated scouting mission from Sparta to Cookeville and back through Dug Hill. Mine Lick Creek families lost three in that ambush.

This cemetery is at the end of John Gentry Road near Baxter, Putnam County, Tennessee. To drive from the Joseph Roberts homestead area to this cemetery is 9.3 miles. However, as the crow flies it is only half a mile.

This cemetery is fenced and well maintained, but I do not know who is in charge of the maintenance. I have left notes at the cemetery but I have not received a call back as of April 2025.
