Wayman is the son of Andrew "Drury" Maynard and Elizabeth "Betsy" Williams. His middle initial is W. but I have not found documentation with the name. Folks on the internet offer Wayne, Wade and Wiley but I cannot find a document with either of those names on it. He was married twice for sure. His first marriage was to Charlotte Henley in 1859 in DeKalb County, Tennessee. Charlotte is the daughter of Capel Henley and Elizabeth Medley. They had at least six children between 1861-1876. It then is alleged that Charlotte had a child out of wedlock with John Tucker in 1882. Child carried the name of Wilson Edward Henley. Wayman and Charlotte were divorced sometime during this period. Probably because of infidelity as Wayman also had a child by Sarah his yet to be 2nd wife in 1876. Some time during this period, Wayman migrated to Russell County, Kentucky where married Sarah Frances Brewer on 12 Sep 1883. I do not know who Sarah's parents were. Wayman and Sarah had at least four kids from 1876 to 1892.
Wayman enlisted on 6 Dec 1862 in Nashville and was mustered in on 22 Feb 1863 in Murfreesboro. His service record shows that he was present for duty until he deserted from Camp at Carthage on 15 Apr 1863. He "returned from desertion" on 19 Aug 1863. Interestingly, his father, Drury, deserted from the Carthage camp on the same day. Evidently several of the Mine Lick group decided to go home for a visit. The desertion charge was dropped on both. Then, he was listed as AWOL from 15 Aug 1864. He is "present" again in September and remains present until his discharge on 14 Aug 1865. Nothing else significant is noted in his roll calls.
Wayman applied for and was approved for an invalid pension on 20 Feb 1890. His widow, Sarah applied for a widow's pension that was disapproved.
Wayman is buried in the Helm-Loy Cemetery in Russell County, Kentucky. We do not know where either of his wives are buried. His wife, Sarah, is likely in the same cemetery but there is no marker for her and I have not located any record proving this location.
Anyone having additional knowledge of Wayman or corrections to what I have, please let me know. Your input is welcomed.
