Leonidus is the son of Joseph A. Lindsey and Mary Gentry.  He married Mary Elizabeth Burgess daughter of George W. Burgess and Charolette McBride.  They had one child, John Isaac Lindsey, born 24 Mar 1863 .

Leonidus' service record doesn't give any clues as to what happened to him after his desertion. Note that he deserted three weeks after his one and only child was born. Speculating that he deserted to go see his son and decided to not go back. Some say he was never heard from again after the war. Some say he went to Missouri and died there as a fairly young man. He is not to be found in the 1870 census or later. His wife and child are living with her family in the 1870 census. There is no record of either he or his wife applying for any kind of pensions. Mary, his wife, did remarry later to Cravin Shanks.
